Email Newsletters - Guidelines & Checklist

Hot Topic!

Business newletters are a valuable and productive tool in internet trading, however, the borderline between what constitutes legitimate business newsletters and spamming is very fine.

If you do send out newsletters or other forms of mass-mailings, your emails should fully comply with quality standards and legal requirements to avoid accusations of spamming, and possible service suspension.

If we receive complaints about spamming from your domain (Unsolicited Commercial Email) we will be forced to suspend the domain pending detailed investigations into email activities. Only when we are satisfied that the rules and guidelines are being complied with, will we reactivate the account.

To avoid domain/service suspension, please ensure that you are complying with the rules and guidelines below.

Checklist for your newsletters

1.1 Confirmed Opt-In: Exclusively send e-mails to recipients who have explicitly confirmed that they solicit to receive advertising e-mails from you. See further information on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opt_in_e-mail

1.2 One-Click-Unsubscribe: Each of your mails should show a link permitting the unsubscription via one single click. All other methods that require the insertion of the e-mail address or a reply-message are not applicable.

1.3 Text-Format: Always complement HTML by a part in TXT-only to assure that all of your recipients get your e-mails in a readable format.

1.4 Indicate subscription information: Indicating where and when the recipient subscribed to your newsletter, will show that your mail is solicited and 'refresh' your recipient's memory.

1.5 Email subscriber lists can be no larger than 2,500 without express permission of UKTNET. Please contact us if your list is larger than 2,500.

1.6 Ensure that your mailer sends out email in batches of no more than 50 emails sequentially rather than en-mass to avoid overloading the server's CPU and causing service disruption to others on a shared server.
